Meet Lorna
I began jewellery making when on a day trip to France over 10 years ago with my (then) young daughter. I bought a plastic bead loom, using her as the excuse, I now realise! She of course never used it, but that began my adventure with jewellery making. I progressed from seed beads, and rarely use them now except as enhancements.
My work now uses wire, fibre (including recycled sari silk and hemp), glass, polymer clay, and copper – and I’m currently making ‘steampunk’ style pieces using recycled old jewellery mixed with new and hand fabricated items.
I’ve also got basic sewing and crochet skills, and some of my creations are simply the result of using the desire to ‘do or make something’ rather than do the housework! Basically I’ll use anything that gives an unusual twist to my creations, and as I’m such a hoarder I’ve got plenty of things in my overflowing house to choose from.
The results I think appeal to people who like something that’s a little bit different. I hope you agree.
