Hi, I am Shalini Austin. I live in Stamford and I am very excited to be part of the Stamford Artisans Guild.
I make unique, hand-crafted semi-precious gemstones, beads and pearl jewellery. My favourite medium is Wire and I really enjoy playing with different types of wire and letting it take it’s own course when I start wrapping it around a stone or bead. I mainly work with Sterling Silver and 14/20 Gold Filled Wire but have recently had a lot of fun with Coloured and plated Copper wire as well! I have also started making unique Wire Sculpture trees recently.
Each Jewellery By Shalini piece is unique and totally hand-crafted to create Pendants, Earrings, Bracelets, Necklaces and hair jewellery. I am also very happy to undertake bespoke orders for Weddings & Special Events like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Birthdays, Christmas etc.
The semi precious gemstones used in the jewellery have all been processed in our own workshop (run by my husband Dave – Stamford Lapidary) from rough. We cut the stones into suitable sizes for the different polishing and shaping processes – Tumble Polishing and as Cabochons on our in-house grinding and Polishing machine. The only exceptions are Cameos, beads and pearls which we do buy ready made from worldwide suppliers of these items.
